This history is a detailed survey of paganism throughout the world, including Syria, Assyria, Druidism, Egypt, Greece, Hindustan’ and is characterized by cruelty, gross licentiousness, and blood sacrifice. Modern pagan practices among northern Indians, Mexicans and Peruvians include sun worship. Priestcraft was prominent in Egypt, Greece and India, which included the worship of animals. Other subjects include Homer’s Odyssey, India and Hinduism, Brahmins, theocracy, and the caste system, the Christian priestcraft as found in Hebrew culture, three chapters on the pope, monks, the massacre of St. Bartholomew, the Inquisition of the Jesuits, the Church of England, clergy salaries, and concluding with scathing reviews by the ecclesiastical hierarchy that were published in response to this book.
